As part of her efforts to support His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno the Governor of Akwa Ibom State\u2019s quest to grow the economy and develop the people, the First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, intends to build on the successes of her predecessor and focus on areas that will improve the lives of women, children and the vulnerable in the state. The first lady plans to focus on improving maternal and child health in the state. The goal is to reduce the infant and maternal mortality rate of the state. COVID-driven economic and social instability will also heighten the risk of child marriage, female genital mutilation and human trafficking. At the same time, the pandemic has exposed women leaders to backlash, leading to threats, abuse and harassment both online and offline.
